about

One of my favorite songs in the whole world is Maggie May by Rod Stewart and I tried to imagine what Maggie was like when she was younger. I made a version of myself the December part of the May-December romance with the young Maggie, years before she met Rod. Of course it's the tall, good looking, silver fox version of myself, so totally fictional.

lyrics

I love to see that twinkle in your eye
The one that makes me melt, yeah the one that gets me high
Now I'm heading for December while you're still a summer moon
The time will come when you will have to choose

We met a along the Hudson River side
Well I was greying at the temples then but you pushed that aside
I can tell that there are second thoughts when you come home at noon
The day of your decision's coming soon

Now my smile is just a substitute for things that might've been
and I've been up all night thinking and wonderin' where I've been
Some nights I know I'm losing, some days I say you win
and Maggie, oh Maggie, where in your world do I fit in?

I could just vanish way out West
maybe jump a freight train so that you don't face the test
Well I know that you love me and breakin' me would break your heart
Well I could run so you don't have to start

Now the bottle is a substitute for things that might've been
and I've been up all night drinking and wonderin' where I've been
Some nights I'm drinking whiskey and some nights I drink gin
and Maggie, oh Maggie, where in your world do I fit in?

Now the bottle is a substitute for things that might've been
and I've been up all night drinking and wonderin' where you've been
Some nights I suck down whiskey and some nights I stink of gin
and Maggie, oh Maggie, where in your world do I fit in
and Maggie, oh Maggie, do I fit in?
